The day began at noon with a Welcome meeting. I’ve decided that they like to entice us with things like t-shirts and free food, and then when they have us captive, they spend an hour going over rules and regulations, safety precautions and the like. Eventually they let us out and we picked up our O-Week welcome packs and shirts. Then we headed down to the courtyard for the Aloha party. There was a DJ, BBQ, slushies, popsicles, and a whole slew of other goodies. At one point there was a dance competition. And lots of socializing. That tapered off around 4. I promptly went back and took a nap. Then at 7 there was Gender Bender Speed Dating, which if you haven’t guessed, is where the guys dressed as girls and the girls as guys. The guys went all out, it passed impressive and was verging on scary. Almost all of them were in dresses or skirts and about 75% of them had full on make up and they had borrowed bras and stuffed them. It was insane. And there were a scary amount of them that looked better in dresses than a lot of girls I know. And then the rest of them looked like street walkers… It was kind of one or the other. Between the copious amounts of alcohol being consumed and the outfits people were wearing the speed dating was fairly entertaining. I met a lot of people, most of whom I don’t remember their names. But I did meet the guys two doors down from us and later in the week were in teams based on floors, so I’ll get to know my neighbors more. Tomorrow consists of a ‘recovery brekkie’ and then a hypnotist show in the evening.
